Gaarawé Village

Supporting Members

For travelers who wish to explore, learn, and contribute during their stay, we offer an opportunity to join our community life temporarily. You’ll have the chance to meet like-minded people, learn about permaculture, and explore the local surroundings. A small contribution to expenses is requested.

Longer stays (from 3 weeks or more): A great way to deepen your experience and make a meaningful contribution to the community.

We encourage you to come with an open mind and a willingness to contribute in whatever way you can. If you’re only staying for a short time, we understand that you might not want structured guidance, and you can explore the village on your own while helping where you’re able.

Accommodation

Do you think this place might be right for you?

Answer these questions:

  • No plastics or refined sugar: One of our goals is to reduce reliance on corporate products, processed foods, and single-use plastics. Here, a bar of soap is more than enough because we have a clean river. Are you okay with not bringing plastic or refined sugar into the village?

  • No food waste or market packaging: Are you fine with not bringing boxed food from the market, especially leaving leftovers in the fridge as a “donation”? (It isn’t one).

  • Natural tobacco only: Corporate cigarettes are not allowed here. Are you okay smoking only natural palm leaves and local tobacco?

  • Digital habits: Do you use your smartphone all day?

  • Expectations: Are you okay being the architect of your own experience here? Apart from a comfortable hut with a clean, dry mattress and sheets, do you have expectations of the village or other members? If so, what are they?

Our chef is Thai, so much of our food is what she would prepare for her family. Vegan/vegetarian options are available and we use mostly organic produce from our own garden or local sources. Please let us know upon arrival if you have any special dietary requirements.

“Participatory Permaculture” (duties not rights)

Permaculture is a complex art. It is not suitable for those seeking a simple, low-budget lifestyle or looking for free time to spend on weekend consumerism. This worldly approach does not belong here, nor is it meant for those following the tourist path. It requires hours of observation, planning, comparison, and maintaining the daily life of the house and village. Treat our financial support with dignity.

For those who have the courage to:

  • Nurture the sense of the divine within (that inner voice saying, “There is more to life”).

  • Explore spiritual values and community living to develop a meaningful vision of existence.

  • Build deep relationships with like-minded people.

  • Feel a calling toward a higher purpose.

  • Contribute, participate, and share their talents toward something greater.

  • Embrace personal transformation and growth.

  • Believe in building a better world together.

  • Take responsibility and create opportunities for others.

  • Expand their personal boundaries and step outside their comfort zone.

  • Seek personal fulfillment and define a clear mission in life.

  • Explore alternative esoteric and spiritual worldviews.
